One Month After Surgery!!! My Success!

WOW!
26.4 (TWENTY SIX POINT FOUR) POUNDS IN 30 DAYS!!!
I really am so totally delighted. (Sorry I didn't post on Monday, had to replace the fan on this computer.)
Here's me in February and latest in April. What a difference! And this is only the FIRST month!

Top Weight (XXX)  Sorry - can't bear to tell you yet. Let me come 'clean' at the end.
Now 26.4 pounds lighter in 30 days!                              That's .88 of a pound per day!

All my life I have dreamed of having results like that, and then praying it wouldn't come back on the following month. Because that is what usually happened.

I would go on a diet, lose 10 pounds, gain back 20. How disappointing. Learning this, after depriving myself of over 1,750,000 calories over my lifetime as I went on diet after diet after diet. I was great at losing weight, I lost a total of 500 pounds (lose 20, gain 30. Lose 40, gain 60. It spiraled out of control). But I couldn't keep it off. Look at what diets I tried.

I tried them all, Adkins, Cabbage Soup, Carbohydrate Addict's, Cranberry Diet, Curves Exercises and eating healthy (good but not strong enough or rich enough to keep it up),  Diet pills - and I am old enough to have tried amphetamines, they were still on the market, and then a whole host of other diet pills. Everything produced some result short term, but it never lasted.
Even Diet Teas, Dr. Bernstein, Dr. Phil's Diet, Egg Diet, Bob Greene's get with the program, Grapefruit diet, so much grapefruit, (never fell for the Ice Cream Diet but it was tempting), Mayo Clinic Diet, Nutrisystem, (I even tried Overeaters Anonymous - but that wasn't my problem. I just couldn't keep it off), the Scarsdale diet, the South Beach diet, Special K diet, Stop the Insanity diet, the Subway Veggie Sandwich diet, the Beverley Hills diet, Vegetarian diet, Walk away the Pounds, Weight Watchers, and finally I considered Xenical for a while, but decided the side effects would be more uncomfortable than I was ready. That's it A-Z.

Did one of them work? NO!

Why not?

We need to understand WHY the body changes when we decrease calories. It freaks out! We feel incredible hunger. Our fat cells think (well they really don't think) but when deprived, act as if it is the 'olden days' and our bodies are living in a famine. Consequently it stores every calorie it can get as fat, because cells store fat so we can live until the famine is over.

It breaks my heart to think of people living a meager existence, starving on a daily basis, trying to live through a REAL famine. This gives us a clue how painful starvation feels. It has inspired me to give to World Vision regularly, supporting two young girls in Malawi, Africa. It is the poorest country in Africa. My little support enables these two young children to eat well, go to school, and helps their families as well. They have uniforms for school, paper and notepads, pencils and pens. And the letters I get! If you want to have a look at sponsoring a child anywhere, please check out https://worldvision.ca or for the sponsorship page go directly to:

Regular YO YO dieters learn quickly diets CAUSE gallbladder disease.

Check out http://womenshealth.about.com/cs/gallbladder/a/dietinggallston_2.htm reads:

Does low cal dieting cause gallbladder disease
Yes.

People who lose a lot of weight rapidly are at greater risk for developing gallstones. Gallstones are one of the most medically important complications of voluntary weight loss. The relationship of dieting to gallstones has only recently received attention.
One major study found that women who lost from 9 to 22 pounds (over a 2-year period) were 44 percent more likely to develop gallstones than women who did not lose weight. Women who lost more than 22 pounds were almost twice as likely to develop gallstones.
Other studies have shown that 10 to 25 percent of obese people develop gallstones while on a very-low-calorie diet. (Very-low-calorie diets are usually defined as diets containing 800 calories a day or less. The food is often in liquid form and taken for a prolonged period, typically 12 to 16 weeks.) The gallstones that developed in people on very-low-calorie diets were usually silent and did not produce any symptoms. However, about a third of the dieters who developed gallstones did have symptoms, and a proportion of these required gallbladder surgery.

What about people who have Bariatric surgery like me? In some studies, if one still has a gallbladder, (I did not) doctors will remove it at the time of gastric surgery, otherwise it may be necessary to have gallbladder surgery a couple of months after your weight loss surgery.

Well celebrate with me!
